First Reconciliation and Holy Communion at St Martin's

Our children celebrate their First Holy Communion at St Martin’s each year during the summer term, having been prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as part of the process earlier in that academic year. The programme is designed for our practising young Catholics who are in Year 3 or over, and who were Baptised as infants and now wish to take these beautiful and most important next steps in their lives. Registration for First Reconciliation and Holy Communion normally takes please in the autumn term, with the programme beginning later that term. If you would like your child to receive these Sacraments in the next cohort, then please fill in the form below and return it to the Presbytery or email it to our administrator at parish.stmartindeporres@northamptondiocese.org  For further information, please use the same email address or ring the Parish Office on 01582 663706

Thinking of becoming a Catholic

Each Easter, a number of people are received into the Catholic Church.  It’s the highpoint of the Church’s year as we celebrate the Resurrection together and welcome adults who are being Baptised and Confirmed, and those who are being received into the Catholic Church from another Christian tradition, into the family of the Catholic Church.  If this is something that you are considering, then please get in touch with us here at St Martin’s.

The preparation will involve a process called the Rite of Initiation of Adults, commonly referred to as the RCIA, where you will journey with others on the same path as you, accompanied by members of the Church who will seek to guide you and support you.  If you would like to explore this further please contact our administrator at parish.stmartindeporres@northamptondiocese.org  or 01582 663706

Your child's Baptism at St Martin's

Baptisms are parish celebrations that are often celebrated apart from the main community. And yet they matter greatly to the community.

The decision of parents to accept the responsibility of raising their children in the Catholic faith is a serious one. That commitment will inform many of that family’s choices and decisions over the years. It is a commitment of parents and Godparents that also finds its echo in the response of the broader community to support the family in their life of faith and in the Christian formation of their children.

To prepare for this great Sacrament of initiation into the fulness of life in Christ and the Catholic Church, parents will need to undertake two preparation sessions, either with our Baptism catechists or one of our priests.

If you would like to have your child Baptised at St Martin’s please email it to our parish administrator at parish.stmartindeporres@northamptondiocese.org For further information, please use the same email address or ring the Parish Office on 01582 663706

Getting Married at St Martin’s

Weddings are parish celebrations that are often celebrated apart from the main community. And yet they matter greatly to the community.

The commitment of a couple to live the sacrament of marriage is one of the foundations not only of a healthy and holy family life, but of the health of our community and society more broadly.

In planning for their wedding, each couple would normally follow this process:

  • agree the date with the Church, prior to booking the reception venue; this is simply to avoid confusion and disappointment;
  • contact the registrar for the necessary license to marry up to a year in advance of the date set;
  • undertake a preparation course, either online or in person, in the year prior to the wedding;
  • beginning six months prior to the wedding, the couple would have a number of meetings with either of the parish clergy to reflect on the specific commitments that they will make on the big day and to finalise the practicalities of the liturgy.

If you would like to get married at St Martin’s please email our administrator at parish.stmartindeporres@northamptondiocese.org  For further information, please use the same email address or ring the Parish Office on 01582 663706
