In 2008, Jimmy Mizen was murdered whilst in a bakery with his brother in South London. Amazingly, Jimmy’s parents, Margaret and Barry immediately forgave their son’s killer and since then have been on a mission to share their story of compassion.  On Saturday 2nd March from 10am-12 noon, Margaret and Barry Mizen will visit the St Thomas Centre at Northampton Cathedral to share their story. All are welcome.

Sacred Heart Anniversary Pilgrimage

14–18th October 2024 – To celebrate the 350th anniversary of the apparition of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Luton is organising a pilgrimage to the shrine of the Sacred Heart, Ars and Cluny.  The 5-day pilgrimage will be led by Fr. James Cassidy.  Cost £950 per person for half-board (single person supplement: £200).  The minimum number needed for the pilgrimage is 20 people, if we can find 25 the cost will drop.  Please email to register your interest as numbers need to be confirmed by 21st Feb.

Diocesan Pilgrimages 2004-5

“It is important to keep in mind, however, that a pilgrimage is not like a vacation. In fact, making a pilgrimage to shrines is an eloquent expression of trust in God. Pilgrims carry in their hearts their faith, history, joys, anxieties, hopes and particular prayers” Pope Francis.

As we journey towards the Holy Year of Jubilee 2025, we are encouraged to make a pilgrimage in the footsteps of Saints and holy people of times gone by to deepen our faith and reliance on our Lord Jesus.  The Diocese of Northampton has several pilgrimages planned throughout 2024 – 2025.  Please visit for further information and booking details.

Vinny’s Pantry – Food Bank

Open Every Tuesday, 6pm to 8pm at Our Lady Help of Christian’s Hall (52 Castle Street, LU1 3AG).  If you are in need of food, other essential supplies or need help or advice, pop along for a cuppa and chat with the friendly SVP Members.

We will host a collection box for the food bank in our church porch for non-perishable food goods (e.g. tinned fruit, vegetables, meats, fish), as well as household cleaning materials and toiletries.  Please consider adding an extra item to your weekly shop to donate to this worthy initiative

Considerate Parking

Please be considerate of our neighbours when parking along Clydesdale Road, being careful not to block people’s driveways or cause obstructions on the roadway.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Parish Hall

Owing to the increased use of the hall by parish groups, with regret we are no longer able to offer the hall for private functions, other than those directly linked to a liturgy in the church e.g. a baptism celebration.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
